A Fayetteville, North Carolina woman died Feb. 11 when the vehicle she was driving ran off the road and crashed into the U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville around 9:20 p.m., the Fayetteville Police Department reported.
The car lodged in a wall near the Bragg Boulevard side of the museum. Bragg Boulevard was closed to all traffic for about a block between Walter Street and Hay Street while emergency responders handled the situation.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, the Police Department said in a news release.
The driver was 69-year-old Arnetha Thompson Johnson of the 1000 block of Rexdale Street, the department said.
The Airborne & Special Operations Museum, which is owned by the Army, has artifacts, exhibits and events to present the culture and heritage of Army’s Airborne and Special Operations Forces, the museum website says.
