Takashi Murakami’s colorful aesthetic and the watch’s fine craftsmanship are combined to create timeless pieces.
Hublot’s collaboration with Takashi Murakami was first announced in 2021, creating watches designed with Murakami’s “Smiling Flower” motif.
This year, Hublot plans to release a collection of thirteen watches which will be unveiled at Watches & Wonders in two months.

However, these watches will only be available online for those who purchased at least one of 324 Hublot x Takashi Murakami NFTs from 2022.
The first of this collection, the Hublot Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow, has already been revealed. The brand considers it to be the “masterpiece” of the entire collection.
The watch is built with a black, ceramic case and decorated with rubies, sapphires, amethysts, tsavorites, and topaz to create the flower.
To obtain these watches, collectors will have to buy or trade for the collaboration’s NFTs on the OpenSea platform.
Interested buyers only have until April 2024 to collect all twelve NFTs. In case nobody is able to do so, Hublot has already planned to auction off the watch for charity.
Murakami’s contemporary art style is a combination of Japanese tradition and pop culture.
“When I visited the Hublot manufacturer in Switzerland for the first time, I realized to what extent the traditional know-how, precision, futuristic technology and craftsmanship were all intertwined in the creation of a watch,” Murakami says.
“Bringing my art into the creativity of these watchmakers represents a unique adventure for me.”
