Mount Lofty House has already secured its place as a luxurious abode in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills and there are now even more reasons why you need to head for the hills.
Meet Martha
There’s a new fine dining establishment in the region, and she’s one you can’t miss. Meet Martha Hardy’s Kitchen – an à la carte restaurant on the lower level of Mount Lofty House, named after Martha Hardy, who, along with husband Arthur, were the original owners of the property.
Dine on decadent dishes like Martha’s 17-hour braised Fleurieu Peninsula lamb shoulder with caramelised pumpkin puree, confit turnip, heritage carrots and garlic jus; chermoula marinated free range chicken breast with charred corn, broccoli and grains salad and sumac yoghurt, and finish with thyme and ‘Queen’s Cut’ honey roasted pear tart with vanilla bean ice-cream and cinnamon anglaise.
A seasonal change at three-hatted Hardy’s
Mount Lofty House’s three-hatted Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant will always surprise with an ever-changing four to seven-course degustation menu.
Dishes might include King George whiting with butter kombu sauce, shiso aged duck with blueberry sauce and parsnip, and Wagyu brisket and Black Angus tenderloin with scallop and pearl onion.
Choose the new stay and dine packages at both Mount Lofty House and its luxurious, secluded Sequoia Lodge, and you can sip and savour in all-inclusive luxury. Life never looked so good.
Relax, sip and savour
At Sequoia, the new stay and dine packages also include a 90-minute guided nature walk through Cleland Conservation Park where you can learn about the surrounding flora and fauna as well as the region’s history.
You can also soak for an hour in your own private hot pool fed by ancient spring waters and then sip your way through a masterclass, where you’ll learn all about the local producers it partners with, from wine to gin and everything in between.
The hills are calling
Live like a celebrity, even if just for a day, with a supercar experience.
Prancing Horse – named after the symbol of Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari – is a self-drive tour for two into the Adelaide Hills in a supercar of your choice: Ferrari, Lamborghini, or McLaren.
Starting at Sequoia Lodge glide your way through the tiny, idyllic town of Carey Gully past orchards, wineries and hobby farms towards The River Torrens, Adelaide’s main river which flows from the Mount Lofty Ranges to the sea.
Wind your way through the village of Lenswood, where the air is filled with the strong scent from the apple orchards and then on to Cudlee Creek where koalas rule, before you follow the frequented Gorge Road alongside the river into small rock canyons and whizz past roads lined with gumtrees.
Time to dine
When hunger calls, stop in at The Lane Vineyard’s restaurant for a celebration of the orchards, vineyards and market gardens you’ve just seen in a five-course degustation.
Foraged from the hills, grown on the estate or proudly South Australian, the menu is all local.
Even the estate dam is brimming with yabbies, rainbow and brown trout fingerlings all destined to feature on future seasonal menus.
Come January, a shorter self-drive experience is on offer, ending at hatted Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant at Mount Lofty House.
Linger over the seasonally changing menu paired with multi-award-winning wines, sake, and creative cocktails. You won’t want to leave.
