The United Women Artists Association of the Philippines held its ninth year celebration with an anniversary art exhibit at LRI Design Plaza with proceeds to be donated to the Abandoned Women Elderly of San Pedro, Laguna.

A well-attended art exhibit opening and fellowship night of the United Women Artists Association of the Philippines (UWAAP) was recently held at LRI Design Plaza in Makati on marking its ninth year of empowering Filipina artists here and abroad, which is critically important in an area so traditionally dominated by men.

On show for ‘nine’ are over 100 artworks by 40 “strong-willowed” women painters who have adapted through this pandemic to sustain lives while being creative,” as coined by Creative Guild’s Hall of Famer Ompong Remigio during her poignant inspirational speech.

Apart from being artists, the members also hold other jobs and include doctors, lawyers, educators, bankers, managers, and entrepreneurs.

According to UWAAP President Menchu Arandilla, proceeds of the show will be donated to the Abandoned Women Elderly of San Pedro, Laguna for March-Women’s Month, and plans for a group show and their officers’ induction in September are underway.
