plastic-barrels-store-in-saraburi-province-destroyed-by-fire

A warehouse storing about 5,000 plastic barrels in Kaeng Khoi district of Saraburi was razed to the ground by fire late Wednesday night.

More than 20 fire trucks rushed to the warehouse of Chor Chokwiwat Limited Partnership, in Huai Haeng sub-district, to fight the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings.

The warehouse owner told Kaeng Khoi police that his company is engaged in the business of cleaning plastic barrels, used to store chemicals, and that there were about 5,000 empty 1,000 litre barrels in the warehouse’s courtyard.

He said that there was only one worker in the warehouse, who reported that there was an explosion at about 10pm last night, followed by flames which spread quickly.

In addition to the 5,000 barrels, three forklifts and two trucks parked in the warehouse were destroyed in the 2-hour fire. Total damage is estimated at about 50 million baht.

Firemen said that their attempts to control the fire was hampered by a strong wind.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
