Despite constantly being in the limelight, these celebrities are still passionate about giving back to those in need.

When you think about celebrities, you would probably picture red carpets and luxurious lifestyles.

Well, when you’ve got a platform as big as theirs, it’s important to use it for a bigger cause.

These Filipino stars have proven time and time again that they choose to spread kindness through their charitable work.

Angel Locsin

Angel Locsin has never been one to shy away from national issues. She is often seen championing women’s rights as a supporter of Gabriela. The organization addresses issues such as human rights, poverty, violence, and sex trafficking.

She is also an ambassador of the Philippine Red Cross and constantly donates blood.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Locsin spearheaded the #UniTENTweStandPH campaign. This was in the effort to help solve overcrowding in hospitals.

Locsin was joined by other celebrities such as Dimples Romana, Anne Curtis, Erwan Heussaff, Regine Velasquez, and Ogie Alcasid. They were able to set up 22 isolation and sanitation tents at 11 hospitals in Manila and neighboring provinces.

To help those who were affected by numerous typhoons, Locsin set up an online shop called Shop & Share. Working with Romana, Curtis, and Kris Aquino, they raised funds for PRC’s relief operations.

Kris Aquino

Kris Aquino is a queen of media, but she knows how important it is to give back. Working with Gawad Kalinga, she has helped with funding ten houses for families in need in Ajuy, Iloilo.

She is also a well-known supporter of World Vision, having sponsored over 300 children. The program ensures education, good health, values formation, and protection for the young individuals.

In 2010, Aquino distributed school supplies to thousands of elementary school students while in 2016, she sponsored a feeding program for around 200 children and 150 families in Cavite City.

Inspired by her mother’s battle with cancer, the star collaborated with Jul B. Dizon Jewellery in 2009 to produce a 20-piece collection. Proceeds from the sale went to the Philippine Red Cross.

Anne Curtis

Aside from working with Locsin on several charitable projects, Anne Curtis is also a UNICEF National Goodwill Ambassador.

In 2019, she helped promote UNICEF’s donation drive for the children affected by the Taal eruption.

Then in 2021, Curtis and her husband, Erwan Heussaff, launched a fundraising campaign to “help more vulnerable babies get the right start in life.”

The first time parents celebrated their daughter Dahlia’s first birthday by supporting disadvantaged children. They urged their friends and family to donate to the fundraiser instead of giving them gifts.

After running the fundraiser for about a month, the couple raised P800,000 and donated P1 million themselves, bringing the total to P1.8 million.

Most recently, the actress has just raised P2 million for charity after completing the Tokyo Marathon.

KC Concepcion

As the national ambassador for the United Nations’ World Food Program, KC Concepcion has traveled all over the country to provide nutritious food for those in need.

To raise more funds for her feeding programs, Concepcion launched KC’s Closet Fights Child Hunger in 2010. She sold her own personal items such as bags and dresses in an online auction.

Proceeds from the campaign went to the WFP’s Emergency Food for Education Initiative, which currently supports around 70,000 children in Mindanao.

“This is a proven intervention worldwide and we’re very excited that [KC] is our number one advocate,” said Stephen Anderson, WFP Philippines Country Director and Representative.
