There have been changes in the New Zealand labour market, as indicated by Statistics New Zealand. The employment indicators provide early insight into potential changes. Their current updates centre around seasonal work occurring over the summer period. 

As outlined by Stats New Zealand, there have been many adjustments to the level of filled jobs in January 2023 compared to December 2022. 

All industries are up by 0.8 percent, equal to 19,666 jobs bringing the new number of filled jobs within our labour market to 2.34 million. 

The breakdown of how this appears in each industry is as follows: primary industries are up by 0.2 percent, amounting to 205 jobs. Goods-producing industries have increased by 0.9 percent, amounting to 3,975 jobs. Finally, service industries are up 0.7 percent, which amounts to 12,832 jobs.
