Times may change, but the elegance of the Tank Française remains steadfast as Cartier relaunches this classic piece

Trends come and go in a blink of an eye. That’s why you know something is truly remarkable when it still remains as relevant as ever in the present, even decades after its creation. Since 1917, the Cartier Tank has proven to be a significant figure in the watch industry as it’s still being celebrated as if it was just released yesterday. As the youngest addition to the Tank line, the Tank Française has always stood out from the bunch, and its return to the limelight proves how it will always be a classic statement piece that harbors the beauty of France and the elegance of Cartier.

The resurging classic

Being the first in the collection to debut an integrated metal bracelet in 1996, the Tank Française already set itself apart from the Tank family. The simple sophistication mixed with its genderless appeal gives it that timeless elegance people seek in a luxury item. A modern classic with a vintage allure, it’s all part of the Tank Française’s enigmatic charm.

For its reinvention, the Tank Française now features an inlaid crown to match the new rounded brancards, or the sides that surround the watch’s dial. To give it that modern appeal, the timepiece is now also presented in predominantly satin finishes. The sunray watch dial with Roman numerals has been further accentuated, and the usual medium size has been enlarged. As for the pièce de résistance, the famous metal bracelet has been redesigned to curve comfortably along the wrist in order to make it truly ergonomic. Available in two colors, you can either choose between the steel finish or yellow gold, which are also available in three sizes: small, medium, and large.

The Tank Française has been reintroduced with subtle yet significant changes, but all those delicate features have further established the place of this timepiece in the world of luxury watches. From 1996 to the present day, the Tank Française has proven to be a piece that will just gracefully evolve as time passes, all the while never losing the unfading opulence of Cartier.
