Cabinet extends environmental protection edict in Phang-nga

The Thai cabinet extended the edict for the protection of the environment in seven districts of the southern province of Phang-nga province today (Tuesday), for another two years from April 1^st.

Enforcement of the edict in Khura Buri, Takua Pa, Ko Yao, Thai Mueang, Thap Put, Mueang and Takua Thung districts was set to end on March 31^st.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Tipanan Sirichana said that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha wants the edict to be adjusted to ease its impacts on local fishermen and may allow them to use push nets in fishing.
