MSC Magnifuca And MSC Poesia 1024x767 1

MSC Cruises set an “industry first” last week when two world cruises set sail on round-the-world journeys on the same day.

The cruise line welcomed almost 5,000 guests aboard the MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesia, which sailed simultaneously from Genoa on Thursday, 5 January.

Following their departure from Genoa, the two MSC Cruises ships on world cruise itineraries arrived in Barcelona on Sunday before departing in opposite directions.

According to MSC Cruises, around 600 Spanish passengers boarded both ships before they set off on their respective journeys.

The MSC Poesia will next call at Funchal, Madeira, and the MSC Magnifica in Cadiz, Spain.

On both ships, approximately 4,200 passengers from 54 countries will travel around the world, an industry first for two global excursions conducted by a major cruise line.

Poesia will sail for 117 days, while Magnifica will sail for two days longer. Poesia will visit Australia, with stops in Hobart, Cairns, and Darwin, and an overnight in Sydney, from where MSC will take guests on various shore excursions.

Guests on world cruises will benefit from an enrichment programme that includes ice cutting, champagne tasting, a variety of guest lectures on expert themes, more than 30 full-scale theatrical plays, guest performers, dancing workshops, language schools, and more.

Following a transatlantic sail, MSC Magnifica will circle South America, crossing the South Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea, and finally through the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean Sea. The ship will stop at 43 different ports in 24 different countries.
