Euroluce 2023
The April event will mark the return of the biennial Euroluce, (pavilions 9-11 and 13-15), now at its 31st appointment, which will be renewed in the exhibition layout, redesigned by the studio Lombardini22 and, at the same time, increase the visibility of the exhibitors, ensuring they all have adequate space. The biennial will be organized around the idea of “The City of Lights,” which will serve as its unifying subject.
The layout of Euroluce 2023 by Lombardini22 is urban-style on a trade fair scale, replete with elements characteristic of urban spaces that encourage the development of a number of formal and informal networks capable of igniting neighborhood cohesion. From the visibility of all the showcases to the provision of ancillary services to enhance the visitor experience, the variety of urban streets served as the project baseline from a number of angles. Cafés, benches, and areas for recharging energy and devices comprise the public areas that now constitute a changing and varied landscape of quality spaces. In addition, the Piero Lissoni-designed bistro and fine dining eatery will be located in the Euroluce pavilions to complement the biennial theme.
The SaloneSatellite
At the 24th SaloneSatellite, which will take place inside the Euroluce pavilions from 13 to 15, there will be more than 550 participants. Design Colleges – Universities / BUILDING THE (IM)POSSIBLE will be the focus of this year’s conference. Process, Development, and Experience. The SaloneSatellite Prize, now in its 12th year, is not to be missed. Gaetano Pesce, who has been asked to speak about the pivotal moments in his lengthy career and his interdisciplinary contributions to the field of design, will be the major and much-anticipated guest at the event for those under the age of 35.
The commitment to a sustainable Salone del Mobile.Milano 2023
The Salone del Mobile 2023 will also place a focus on environmental, economic, and societal responsibility. Milan recently earned ISO 20121 accreditation for event planning that is environmentally responsible. In this perspective, the Salone is concerned with the potential for temporary spaces to be created. Given this, the Salone has designed modular structures for the biennial Euroluce in conjunction with Formafantasma and Lombardini22 to guarantee that this display design will have continuity, if not within the fair, then in other locations, as it did for Design with Nature by Mario Cucinella.
In addition, this year the Fair has already begun the procedures to identify suppliers of recycled, recyclable or reusable materials for the construction of the communal parts. We will work to regenerate the resources consumed and absorb the waste produced. In this respect, the guidelines for sustainable installations proposed last year to exhibiting companies have also been expanded.
As evidence of the commitment and importance of ever closer integration of sustainability with strategic choices, since 2022 the Salone del Mobile. Milano has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest initiative for business sustainability.
“The Salone del Mobile.Milano’s ability to experiment, innovate and interpret changes reflects a dynamism and willingness to do increasingly more and better for the wood-furnishing companies that have seen Italian design become the design par excellence at global level. The 61st edition, along with the biennial Euroluce exhibition, will unleash the energy that our companies, large and small, harnessed to bring the supply chain to a production turnover of almost 57 billion euros in 2022, up 12.7% compared to 2021 (FederlegnoArredo Study Centre Preliminary Data), accounting for a 11.1% rise in the Furnishing Macrosystem, a 14.3% rise in the Wood Macrosystem and a 15% rise in the timber trade.”
