21-myanmar-migrants-found-on-cargo-vessel-heading-towards-chumphon

A Myanmar cargo vessel was intercepted by Thai troops at sea off the southern province of Ranong. It was carrying 21 Myanmar migrants to work at construction sites in Chumphon province.

Troops from the 25th Infantry Regiment, who are stationed on Sarani Island, thought the boat looked suspicious and a patrol vessel went to investigate. The Myanmar nationals found on board claimed that they had paid 18,000 baht each to a broker in Myanmar, who promised to take them to Chumphon to work at construction sites in Lang Suan district.

The boat’s skipper and all the Myanmar nationals were taken to the Thai immigration police office in Muang district for further questioning.
