The Bulgari Bulgari watch range welcomes new minimalist models and a GMT reference

While Bulgari has been making horological waves in recent years with its highly faceted Octo watches and its Gerald Genta retrograde timepieces, we still greatly enjoy the strong simplicity of its Bulgari Bulgari design. The double engraving of the Bulgari logo on its bezel was inspired by the inscriptions used on ancient Roman coins, and is a design that has spawned countless copies since it was first launched in 1977 as Bulgari’s first serially produced men’s watch.

The latest additions to the Bulgari Bulgari collection feature the model’s distinctive, straightforward charm, but to rather different effect: New references in black or silver are perfect for those looking for a minimalist, everyday timepiece that will complement any outfit, while the Bulgari Aluminium GMT in blue and red is a sporty watch that’s both fun and functional.

Available in 40mm or 33mm, the Bulgari Bulgari Black features an almost (but not quite) all-black finish with a case and bracelet in black DLC-coated steel, and a black lacquered dial. Increasing legibility but preventing the watch from being in total stealth mode are the silver-coloured finishes of the applied hour markers and hands, as well as the crown (although the crown is topped with a black ceramic insert). The 41mm version is powered by the in-house self-winding movement BVL 191, while the 33mm variant features a quartz movement.

For those who prefer something a lot shinier, the Bulgari Bulgari Silver model has a cool, all-silver palette with a dash of red, courtesy of the rubellite cabochon in its crown. Available only in 33mm, the quartz timepiece features a steel case and a silver-toned dial set with 12 diamond hour markers.

Launched in 1998 as the world’s first luxury watch made of aluminium and topped with a rubber bezel, the Bulgari Aluminium is an extension of the Bulgari Bulgari family, with its double logo inscription. A dual time zone watch in sporty blue and red, the Bulgari Aluminium GMT is designed to be a cheerer-upper in more ways than one. Aside from its vibrant aesthetic, the 40mm watch’s second time zone complication is meant to remind its wearer that the days of travel will (hopefully) soon be upon us again.

Powered by the B192 self-winding movement, the Bulgari Aluminium GMT features an aluminium case with a titanium caseback and crown that make it a light, easy-wearing option. Its blue rubber bezel, twice inscribed with the Bulgari logo, is matched by its blue rubber strap with aluminium links. The red-tipped hand displays the local time on a 24-hour scale on the rim of the dial, and can be advanced by the crown in one-hour increments. If travel isn’t on the cards, the wearer, of course, can just use it to show the time in their dream destination for now.
