Samsung ranked sixth in the list of the world’s 50 most innovative companies for 2022 selected by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management strategy consulting firm. BCG announced the standings on Sept. 15.
Since 2005, BCG has been selecting innovative companies based on a survey of 1,500 global corporate executives and total shareholder return.
Samsung came in sixth, the same as last year. Since the publication of the first BCG report in 2005, Samsung has been included in the top 50 companies every year.
Besides Samsung, LG (16th) and Hyundai Motor (33rd) made the top 50 innovative companies among Korean companies. LG fell by 4 notches from 12th, while Hyundai Motor rose by 6 notches from 39th last year.
Apple maintained its top spot following 2021. It was followed by Microsoft (2nd), Amazon (3rd), Alphabet (4th), and Tesla (5th).
By region, North American companies took the lion’s share with 27, followed by 15 from Asia and eight from Europe. The number of European companies decreased by three from last year, but that of Asian companies increased by three (two in China and one in Japan).
