‘Nothing short of spectacular’: A sneak peek inside the new Bangkok Four Seasons
Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Praya River has opened on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in the heart of Bangkok’s Creative District.
This has been one of the most highly anticipated hotel openings and all signs point to one thing: it doesn’t disappoint.
“The much-anticipated return of Four Seasons to Thailand’s capital is nothing short of spectacular,” Christian Clerc, Four Seasons President, Global Operations said.
Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Praya River is an urban oasis amid an eclectic neighbourhood undergoing something of a renaissance.
The luxury hotel, in the heart of the city, graces 200 metres of riverfront along the famed Charoenkrung Road. Its myriad small streets and alleyways scream eclectic cool and are host to street food vendors, local restaurants, traditional crafts, contemporary art, and designer goods.
The city’s newest premium shopping mall, ICONSIAM, is a short walk from Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Praya, so Bangkok’s excellent retail therapy is never far away.
Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Praya has 299 rooms, destination restaurants and lounges and a state-of-the-art urban wellness centre.
Each room and suite boasts high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows with river or garden views, and spa-like bathrooms.
But for the crème de la crème, there is the 450-square-metre Presidential Suite, which may just end up becoming Bankgkok’s finest address.
Perched on the 10th floor, the two-storey suite boasts epic views, a large open living area with its own bar as well as a catering kitchen, up to three bedrooms and an oversized terrace with private plunge pool.
The hotel’s contemporary buildings interconnect with quiet courtyards, lively restaurants and lounges, and open-air, tropical terraces. Later this year, the hotel will also open 366 Four Seasons Private Residences.
Inside, lead interior designer Jean-Michel Gathy of DENNISTON has created an airy, contemporary world of high ceilings and glass walls, softened with natural touches like water features — an ode to the Chao Praya river — and a warm palette that brings the outside in.
Art-lovers can expect to be in awe on arrival in the lobby. A dedicated ART Space in partnership with MOCA Bangkok that snakes down to the river showcases changing exhibitions celebrating Thai artists.
Yu Ting Yuan serves up authentic Cantonese amid lush gardens. Riva del Fiume is all rustic Italian with an echo of glamorous Lake Como. French Tropics-inspired Brasserie Palmier focuses on fish and seafood and boasts a wine and oyster bar.
BKK Social Club is set to become a go-to for the local elite with rare Champagnes and the finest cigars on the menu. The Lounge is your casual hang for a cosy afternoon tea, and Café Madeleine’s pastry shop and café have your morning caffeine fix sorted.
Bliss-out in the spa
The Urban Wellness Centre at Four Season’s Hotel Bangkok focuses on spirituality, fitness and pampering.
It’s gargantuan – 2,500 square metres, spread across three floors with eight treatment rooms, a private bath and an indoor garden.
It also has a state-of-the-art gym, a dedicated mind and body studio with both open and private classes and a 30 metre (98 foot) lap pool.
Need a haircut or a manicure? The spa also has a hair salon, barbershop and nail salon.
“Every aspect of the spa places equal emphasis on the ideas of mind, body and work,” Sandie Johannessen, Four Season’s Senior Director of Spa said.
