Entertainment center give their entertainment via Twitter was raided by the police, 24 visitors were checked
PETALING JAYA: An entertainment center in Icon City here, which made an announcement about its activities through the social networking site Twitter to get customers was raided by the police on Sunday night.
Petaling Jaya police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said, in the raid at about 11.15 pm, the police checked 24 visitors including 11 women.
“The raid was made through Ops Cantas Khas after receiving complaints from the public.
“The police inspection found that the entertainment premises had an entertainment license issued by the local authority (PBT) but did not have a license to sell liquor.
“So, we are taking action against this entertainment center under the Excise Act 1976 for selling liquor without a valid license,” he said in a statement here, on Monday.
According to Mohamad Fakhrudin, the same premises had been raided twice before in August and October last year for violating the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and employing foreign workers without a valid work permit.
Both offenses, he said, have already been taken to court.
He stressed that his party would not compromise with any entertainment center operator who violated the law.
He said the public can also channel any complaints to the Petaling Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 03-79662222 or any nearby police station.
