Details: The Federal Government is encouraging agricultural industries to raise levies to support R&D, marketing and other activities of interest to industry stakeholders.  Using information provided by the Dpt Agriculture and Water Resource, Peter will discuss how levies, such as may be considered by the truffle industry, may operate.  12.20 – 1.00pm Lunch Break

Topic:  The truffle industry in China from T. indicum to T. melanasporum


Presenter:  Dr Ian Hall,

Details: Ian Hall played an integral role in starting the truffle industry in New Zealand in the early 1990s.  He has since moved to China where he continues his involvement in the industry consulting widely on growing mycorrhizal fungi. 1.20 – 1.40pm Topic: Truffle Grower Survey

Details:  An integral part of the Pest and Diseases Project has been collecting data on the location, size and operations of truffières in the different states. Ann will share some of the insights this work has provided.

1.40 – 2.00pm Topic:  Common issues of truffiere establishment and management

Presenter:  Noel Fitzpatrick

Venue: Craig’s Hotel

Details: Noel has broad experience providing advice on establishing a truffiere.  More importantly, from the perspective of today’s talk, he provides advice and assistance in remediating low and non-productive farms.  He will provide us with an overview of some of the more common issues  he has encountered and how these may be addressed.

Details: The Eastern Australian Tablelands Truffle Growers’ Cooperative (AKA EAT Truffle) has commenced operations. Richard will share some experiences and ask the question whether this approach to truffle marketing has wider application.

Details:  Irrigation of your trees has a marked impact on truffle production.  Colin will share his insights into this new realm of understanding truffière best practice management.
